Ever wondered why your network marketing leads seem so unimpressed by your pitch? Do you find many of the people you call seem almost jaded? The fact is no matter how “exclusive” your leads are they’ve probably seen more than a few sales pitches and MLM opportunities already, and may have even spoken to others about starting up in MLM.
I know that this may come as a chock, especially from a lead company, but consider this: Most of us think that our lead being contacted previously is a bad thing, and it can be, but there is a major reason to be excited when you’re lead seems to know a little more than anticipated – most serious prospects have started looking in multiple places, and filled out more than one form looking for the business that they can really get behind!
Think about it, do you think that the most serious MLM recruits came across one website entered their name and email at the first opportunity they came across and sat back waiting to be contacted? Of course not!
Learning not to be thrown off when you’re lead seems to have heard it all before is important, but learning not to scare them off is even more critical. If your prospect has done even a minimal amount of research the odds are they have been bombarded with loads of MLM hype and a great deal of exaggeration. This may not be your preferred method of promotion – but it is for many. Don’t believe me?
For a first hand taste of common network marketing lead generation do a Google search of home based business, pick a site and fill out the form, you may want to create a free email account that you can shut down later for this. Odds are, your inbox will now quickly be quickly filled with over the top claims and get rich quick schemes … see why your lead may be a little jaded when you call?
It’s important to remember, your network marketing lead is looking for a legitimate way to change their life! Think about what your thoughts and motivations were when you started looking. Try approaching them with less hype – you may find that fewer of your leads are scared away by your call.
Establish a common ground with your prospects, after all at one point you were in their shoes too. This is a great place to start. Try to ask questions such as “what is it that draws you to the idea of having your own business?” rather than “How would you like to have your mortgage and car paid off in the next 12 months”? The difference in approach can be a revelation!
Don’t start off by trying to impress- after all, your network marketing lead has heard this a million times before – and obviously it hasn’t worked if they’re still looking. What they probably haven’t heard is a kind, patient and down to earth voice like yours. Give it a shot!
